It’s been a month since our last planning day, and we’ve been anxiously waiting for this day to come!

Our first stop was Starlight Custom Cakes in Boothbay. The cakes she made were absolutely delicious! We loved all the flavors we tried which included lemon, chocolate, spice, and orange/chocolate marble. All the cakes were super moist, light, and fresh, and the buttercream frosting was the perfect sweetness. Patricia, the owner of Starlight Custom Cakes, has many more flavors listed on her online website, but we were in love with the ones we tasted. She took us for a tour through her studio to show us different aspects of the decorating that she had discussed with us in her kitchen.

The intricate details of everything around us were so impressive. I am so excited for the groom’s cake that Patricia is creating! It’s a surprise for Luke, so we sent him outside while we talked about what she would create. I can assure you that the groom’s cake will really showcase her talent and completely change the way you think about what a cake can be. We talked with Patricia about three very different designs for the wedding cake and can’t wait to see what everyone thinks about them.

Next we stopped at Hoboken Gardens to meet with Lisa and Sharon for a photo shoot of my bouquet choices with Mark McCall Photography. As soon as I got my hands on one of the bouquets, I didn’t want to let go. I was ready to walk down the aisle right there! This will be a hard choice, as the bouquets are all so different but all gorgeous. I think it will be another hard choice for voters. I absolutely adore flowers, and the ladies at Hoboken Gardens couldn’t have made me happier. I am beyond thrilled and can’t wait to see the rest of their creations. You’ll get to vote on the bouquets in a few weeks!

Then we stopped back at Seasons Downeast Designs to photograph another voting aspect of our wedding. Anna had some different options of flowers for fillers for the garland that will decorate the Norumbega Inn at our welcome party. Like Anna pointed out, the garland will create a very different, earthy look, compared to an expected centerpiece of flowers. We loved the aromatic sprigs of rosemary and pops of dusty miller spread throughout the mock garland. We are hoping to place candles around the pieces, which will make the pieces of crystal-like gems in the garland sparkle throughout the evening.

The next stop was another vendor that we have been anxiously waiting to visit. We arrived at the Samoset Resort a few minutes before everyone else and stood on the deck overlooking part of the golf course. The Samoset overlooks the Rockland Breakwater, which was my favorite place growing up and is where Luke proposed.

During our meeting with Chef Tim, we picked out different ice sculptures from a photo album. It’s pretty awesome that we get an ice sculpture! Without giving too much away, we are 100% certain that our guests are going to be VERY happy with their dinner. We sampled three main dishes, along with a salad and soup. We’ve been craving that chowder ever since our meeting, thinking about going back soon for some more of the lobster and corn chowder that we chose for the starter. Every dish Chef Tim brought out for us was extraordinary. It was a wonderful experience!

After being away from the Midcoast for four years while I was attending college, it has felt like a great vacation to be back visiting many of my favorite places. I used to drive up to Point Lookout Resort in Northport when I was younger to walk during the summer. The whole location is serene, but the best view is when you get to the summit. Surrounded by trees, it overlooks the ocean.

Our first stop at Point Lookout was in their bowling alley where there was more food tasting waiting for us. We sat down with their wonderful team and talked about food that we liked (just about everything), and sampled some of the delicious appetizers. We got to get ready for our Vendor Meet & Greet in one of the adorable cabins. I have never been in the cabins, and they are fabulous! Our after party will be at Point Lookout. It will be a very unique experience our friends and family will never forget.
