Planning Day #3: A gorgeous day on Maine's Midcoast!

Posted: September 16, 2020
Planning Day #3 was a great success, and the Real Maine Weddings team had a great time with Rachel and Adam as they visited and got to know Sebasco Harbor Resort, Farmhouse Floral by Estabrook's, Maine Maritime Museum, and the Church of the New Jerusulem. Rachel and Adam put some thoughts together afterward, which you can read below. We send out a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the first two planning days and the entire Wedding of the Year team! We appreciate your expertise and assistance during this complicated year. After careful consideration, Rachel and Adam, along with the RMW team, have decided to postpone their wedding to October of 2021. We know that it will be a spectacular weekend, full of family, friends, and love. We look forward to sharing the details with you next year as they unfold! Photos by Kivalo Photography.

"Our wedding began to feel real after picking out my wedding dress. Adam could feel the excitement radiating off me the days after dress shopping. We marked the days on our calendar leading up to the next planning day because we could not wait to see our venue! The day finally arrived, and we had beautiful weather. We pulled up to Sebasco Harbor Resort and took our time admiring the gorgeous landscaping and sweeping water views. We looked at each other with huge smiles, because we knew this was a very special place. Our Wedding Planner Fausto Pifferer from Blue Elephant Event and Catering and Reuben from Real Maine Weddings were waiting inside for us to begin a fun day filled with food tastings, flowers, and tours. This was our first time meeting them in person, but you wouldn’t have known it. We all instantly clicked even with masks covering our faces.
Flower arrangements with Ashley from Farmhouse Floral by Estabrook’s was first on the agenda. I grew up in a house exploding with plant life and developed a great love for flowers, and I was excited when I saw pictures of Ashley’s incredible work! Ashley took the time to comb through our Pinterest and make a few storyboards tailored to our style. We both instantly fell in love with her ideas, which were Pinterest worthy of themselves! We cannot wait to see her creations come to life on our big day. Her ideas for the church sound like a fairytale and we cannot wait to see how Kivalo Photography and Molly Breton & Co. capture it on camera.
Patty from Kivalo Photography spent the day with us, which made us feel extra special. We took some cute photos around the resort and soaked in the beautiful day. Our favorite moment was a sneak peak at the vintage bowling alley on the resort and having a few photos taken there. Our first date was bowling, so we plan to incorporate the resort’s vintage candlepin bowling alley into our special weekend. Patty took so many candid photos during this visit, and we cannot wait to see them. We're sure that there is at least one photo of us stuffing food in our face from the delicious tasting at Sebasco Harbor Resort. Each course was delicious and came with a paired wine pour. This was a nice way to unwind in the middle of a busy planning day and we really enjoyed it. We’re excited to offer our guests local menu options from both land and sea. Our table décor will be a future planning day, but we’ve already been dreaming it up with Fausto.
Next, we drove down the street to check out our rehearsal dinner venue, Maine Maritime Museum. We could not be more excited as we wanted to incorporate a nautical New England vibe into our wedding. The museum and the property are so lovingly cared for and it shows. Our rehearsal dinner will be in Long Reach Hall, a cozy room overlooking the water which will be perfect after an October boat cruise with our guests. Lastly, we stopped at the Church of the New Jerusalem. This charming antique church sits pretty on a hill near downtown Bath. It’s a storybook wedding church and we cannot wait to see it filled with our loved ones. Ashley from Farmhouse Floral by Estabrook’s has some amazing ideas to make this church even more beautiful. We met the church's minister Rev. Dr. Bell and briefly discussed our wishes for the ceremony. We had a lot in common with him and spent most of our time building a friendship. We plan to meet with him again closer to the date to finalize the ceremony and book the local organist."

We hope that you enjoy these photos from Planning Day #3! We look forward to catching up with Rachel and Adam soon.
