The Agora Grand Event Center was forged from the former St. Patrick’s Church, one of Maine’s most historic and awe-inspiring landmarks. Taking its name from the Greek word for “gathering place,” the Agora Grand specializes in luxurious weddings, complete with a magnificent reception hall, a charming traditional chapel, an exquisite balcony lounge to pamper you and your wedding party, and New England’s most unique honeymoon suite to share with your loved one, built inside Maine’s tallest tower.
The Agora Grand’s incredible Reception Hall showcases gorgeous Neogothic columns supporting a 55-foot ceiling, a completely restored stained glass Rose window, a fully stocked bar created from recycled pipe organ elements, and a state-of-the-art sound and light system that will provide the ultimate setting for your memorable event. Hand-built in 1890 to the exacting standards of architect Patrick Keely and under the supervision of Bishop James Healy, the first American Bishop of African descent, the sanctuary remains a breathtaking testament to the relationship between Man and Maker. Filled with history, classic workmanship, and intricate details, the Reception Hall is one of the most stunning rooms in all of New England. Ideal for those who exhibit a discriminating taste and an appreciation for the highest quality, the Reception Hall reflects the elegance you wish to exude.
The Chapel at the Agora Grand has been painstakingly preserved. Surrounded by over a dozen mesmerizing stained glass windows, the Chapel seats up to 200 guests facing an altar showcasing an original painting by Maine artist Harry Cochrane. The Chapel, like the Reception Hall, is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. The chandeliers and interior stained glass provide a romantic ambiance that will bring a classic touch to your wedding.
The Balcony Lounge is the crown jewel of the Agora Grand. Created from the original pipe organ and choir loft, the lounge is an intimate and exclusive retreat featuring outstanding views from both the main level and upper Viewing Platform, as well as a large, luxurious bathroom complete with whirlpool hot tub.
Tower Honeymoon Suite
An incredible amenity not available anywhere else in New England, the Honeymoon Suite is located in the tower room underneath Maine’s highest structural point and is surrounded by stunning original stained glass windows.
