Married in the Mountains at Sunday River

Posted: March 06, 2017

Located in the heart of the mountains of Western Maine, Sunday River Resort is a gorgeous destination to say “I do,” with a variety of ceremony and reception spaces, as well as packages to both meet your budget and make your day memorable. As the bride- and groom-to-be, you’ll rest assured knowing that the area activities and amenities only enhance the wedding day experience for you and your guests.

For those with a passion for skiing and snowboarding, incorporating a chairlift ride into your wedding day is key. When you host your ceremony and reception at the mid-mountain Peak Lodge, your guests will arrive at the venue on our signature Chondola chairlift, regardless of which season you choose to say your vows. Outdoor ceremonies are made possible with a large patio, while the inside of the lodge is rustic with large windows for panoramic mountain views.

Weddings at the Jordan Hotel offer not only offer scenic vistas of Sunday River’s alpine Jordan Bowl, but the convenience of a full-service hotel, including the Jordan spa, a fitness facility with an outdoor pool, and more. The Jordan Terrace is picturesque for an outdoor ceremony, while the intimate post-and-beam architecture of Sliders Restaurant makes for a unique reception venue.

The Grand Summit Hotel is conveniently located in the center of Sunday River and has opportunities for both large weddings and smaller affairs. It features an outdoor space beneath the resort’s Little White Cap chairlift for ceremonies, and the elegant Grand Ballroom and patio for cocktail hour and receptions.

All couples who book with the Sunday River Wedding Company will choose from one of our four wedding packages to determine their menu, but each of these packages comes standard with amazing complementary services. First and foremost, you’ll receive a season pass for unlimited skiing and snowboarding at Sunday River for the winter following your wedding. You’ll also receive a two-night stay in a one-bedroom bridal suite at either the Grand Summit or Jordan Hotel. Reception services will include a champagne toast, a bartender, wait staff for passed hors d’ouevres, cake cutting, and floor length-linens and napkins. Your day will also be made easier with a wedding coordinator, set-up staff, gift basket delivery to resort guests, and hotel valet.

As for amenities and area activities, the region surrounding Sunday River is rich with a vibrant dining scene, quaint shops and boutiques, as well as outdoor activities including golfing, hiking, mountain biking, ziplining, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and disc golf. Perfect for outings with your wedding party or for guests who want to turn your wedding into a weekend getaway, Sunday River and the nearby town of Bethel—Maine’s most beautiful mountain village—won’t disappoint.

All in all, your wedding at Sunday River will not only be beautiful and scenic, but will create lasting memories for you and your guests.
