After a year of discussing an introduction, Amy and Jon were finally set up my mutual friends. It was an instantaneous union.
The Portland-based couple got engaged in the East End Community Garden overlooking the sunset. “Jon proposed with a chunk of meteorite and his family diamonds in a small box,” Amy says. “The garden was a spot that we frequented during dog walks in the process of falling in love when we lived on the East End.”
The couple wanted to have a casual outdoor space for their wedding celebration and decided on a weekend event at the Mountain House on Sunday River in Newry. “The weekend was filled with enjoyment of the entire property and the swim spot gems of the area,” Amy says.
The couple had a low-key, amazing weekend. They hosted a potluck rehearsal dinner, which included lobster and steaks. The couple was married by their yoga teacher, and they had friends representing the four directions/elements make offerings at their ceremony.
“The ceremony was surreal and it was so special being surrounded by so much love,” Amy says. “We took turns throughout the ceremony shedding tears of joy. At the conclusion we were Amy and Jon Spencer—in bliss!”
At the reception guests enjoyed lawn games, wonderful food and drink, and fantastic company. A late night fire with good friends playing some classics and star gazing capped off the night.
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about the big day. Here’s what Amy said…
…this kind of love for everyone.
I didn’t realize
…that our ceremony would be so magical.
One of my favorite moments was
…dancing with the kids.
I’m glad that
…my mom danced with my dad and I.
