Lexi knew most of John’s family before she even met him! She was working at a dance fitness studio owned by one of John’s aunts. Many family members worked there or stopped by frequently. She was set up on a blind date with John by one of his cousins. It was the last first date either of them would ever have.
Lexi and John are both from the South Shore of Massachusetts, but visit Maine frequently. Every other weekend they are usually at John’s parent’s lake house. In fact, it was on one of these weekend trips that John proposed.
On this particular visit, John and Lexi were planning to help his parents with some construction and yard work. John suggested they get a quick adventure in before they started work on the house. They decided to drive their truck up Hawk Mountain right after breakfast. “We often climb Hawk Mountain on foot or with snowmobiles, but never by truck,” Lexi says. “We got in the truck, still practically in our pajamas, and headed up to the mountain.”
Once they reached the top, John popped the question. John’s parents ran out of the woods after she said “Yes.” They had filmed the whole thing. “We spent the whole day celebrating with family,” Lexi says. “It was absolutely perfect!”
The couple planned their wedding at the King’s Hill Inn & Barn in South Paris. “Everything looked natural, rustic, and peaceful,” Lexi says. “The entire wedding weekend was perfect. I wish that we could do it again every year!”
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about the big day. Here’s what Lexi said…
I didn’t realize…that we would hardly have any time to eat!
I’m glad that…Sydney decided to buy sparklers at the gas station.
I really liked…how our cake looked. It was so delicious!
My advice to other couples is
…to not give in to your pre-wedding meltdowns. It really is all so worth it!
