Justin and Brooke got hitched in their hometown—Bar Harbor Maine!
Their families have lived on Mount Desert Island for generations and Brooke and Justin both attended MDI High School. “Maine, specifically MDI, is a huge part of our lives,” Brooke says. Choosing to be married there was an easy decision.
Their nautical themed wedding was filled with special details. Brooke made her own sea glass head piece for her wedding day and gifted her bridesmaids with handmade sea glass necklaces. Their tables were named for special places around the island and had their wedding portraits taken at Thuya Gardens in Northeast Harbor.
The weather on their big day was not what they had envisioned. It poured all day long. About 30 minutes prior to the 4 p.m. ceremony the skies cleared and the sun came out. Their wedding ceremony was held overlooking Somes Sound and their reception was held at the Hulls Cove School House.
“I didn’t realize how fast the day would go by,” Brooke says. “One of my favorite moments was seeing the enjoyment amongst all of all of our friends and family together.”
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about her big day. Here’s what Brooke said…
I wish…that we had more time to see people at our wedding. The night flew by!
I’m glad that…the weather cleared up!
I really liked…all of our vendors. Everyone was super helpful and went out of their way to help us.
My advice to other couples is
…that everything doesn’t have to be perfect. It will all work itself out and guests don’t care about how perfect everything is.
