Britney and Craig met as juniors at the University of Maine in Orono. “We participated in Greek life and were introduced through mutual friends,” Britney says.
Craig popped the question during a weekend away in Bar Harbor. “We hiked up Cadillac Mountain, and while we were looking over the water, Craig dropped down on one knee and proposed,” Britney says. “It was amazing!”
The couple decided to get married in Maine, where their love story began. “It’s where I grew up and where we met,” Britney says. “It also happens to be a beautiful place to share that day with family and friends.”
The couple incorporated some special details into their big day. Harry Potter fans, they topped their cake with a gold doe and stag. Britney and Craig love to eat fiddleheads (a Maine delicacy) so she incorporated them into her bouquet. Their stationer created a custom drawing of their wedding venue, The Landing at Pine Point, onto their invites and table numbers. “It was fun incorporating small pieces of ourselves throughout the day,” Britney says.
On the day of the wedding, Britney and her bridesmaids arrived at The Landing at Pine Point early, with breakfast and mimosas, to get ready for the event. Craig and Britney had their ‘first look’ on the beach at 2 p.m., followed by group photos of the wedding party and family and then the ceremony.
Dinner and dancing followed the cocktail hour. “One of my favorite moments was dancing the night away,” Britney says. “The venue and DJ offered the perfect atmosphere and everyone was on the dance floor!”
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about the big day. Here’s what Britney said…
I wish…we could do it all over again! The day turned out exactly as we hoped it would.
I didn’t realize…how quickly it would go. It took months to plan and the day flew by in a flash.
I’m glad that…I hired the right vendors. They made everything seamless and easy.
I really liked…stepping away from the crowd with my husband to take in the scene of our guests from the balcony. Seeing everyone together and reflecting on us gave us a nice reprieve.
My advice to other brides is
…don’t forget to include your groom. This is about the two of you and you’ll want to look back on it knowing you conquered the planning together.
