After Lauren picked out a specific engagement ring for Jeff to buy, he left her hanging for a few weeks.

During a romantic dinner, Lauren looked away and Jeff slipped a ring box onto the table and didn’t say anything. Lauren looked at the box, then at Jeff, then at the box, and then at Jeff. Lauren started to get worked up, because Jeff wasn’t saying anything! “That better not be a pair of earrings!” she said, through tears. She opened it and found a charm for her dog’s collar with their new address. When she looked across the table at Jeff he was holding the ring in his hand and proposed.

The couple, who live in North Berwick, knew they wanted to have a tented wedding but needed an affordable venue. A friend suggested the Hackmatack Playhouse, which turned out to be the perfect setting. “It was also incredibly convenient, as it is right down the street from our house,” Lauren says.

It was a second wedding for both Lauren and Jeff, and they wanted it to be relaxed but still special. “The whole wedding was kind of a combination of eclectic ideas within an eclectic setting,” Lauren says.

On the day of the wedding, Jeff showed up to the site early to make sure everything was taken care of. Lauren pampered herself with a manicure and pedicure, then headed back to the house for hair and makeup. She got dressed in the Hackmatack Playhouse dressing room with her friends.

After the ceremony, Jeff and Lauren posed for some photos while their guests enjoyed hors d’ouevres in the barn. “Everyone mingled, ate, and a couple of hours later, we cut our cake and everyone danced into the night,” Lauren says.

In Her Words
We asked the bride more about the big day. Here’s what Lauren said…

I wish…the night didn’t feel so short!

I didn’t realize…how much better a second wedding could be.

One of my favorite moments was…seeing everyone flock to have their photo taken with the buffalo.

I’m glad that…we had an open bar.

I really liked…looking at the pictures of our nieces and nephews all in matching outfits rocking out on the dance floor.
