David didn’t mess around with his proposal to Elsbeth. He popped the question at Elsbeth’s surprise 27th birthday in front of 50 of their friends and family. “It was so, so, so sweet!” Elsbeth says.
The Massachusetts couple, who love winter and skiing, toured several venues in their home state for their big day. “When we went to Maine to look, all the vendors were so nice to us and made us feel special and important,” Elsbeth says. So a winter wedding in Maine it was!
They had their ceremony at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Rumford, and their reception at the Sunday River in Newry. Elsbeth and David made a grand entrance into their reception, skiing down the mountain in their wedding attire and right up to the Grand Summit Ballroom! “It was really fun…and cold!” Elsbeth says.
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about her wedding day. Here’s what Elsbeth says…
…I could have my wedding happen every weekend. It was a blast!
I didn’t realize
…how much work a wedding is to plan. It is a full time job!
One of my favorite moments was
…having our friends sing and play the guitar during our ceremony. They played a song that was also played at my parents’ wedding. It was very emotional and beautiful.
I’m glad that
…we got school busses for our guests to ride to the church because there was a snowstorm! Everyone got there safe and sound.
I really liked
…having all of my friends and family up in Maine for a weekend. It was a great time for family bonding.
My advice to other couples is
…don’t get too stressed out on the day of your wedding. No matter what happens, you are marrying the love of your life!
