Christmas is Brett’s favorite holiday, so it was a natural for him to make it extra special by planning to propose to Ashley.
Once the final present in Ashley’s stocking was unwrapped, Brett said he had one more. He got down on one knee, pulled the ring box out from the pocket in his pajama pants, and asked Ashley to marry him.
Ashley and Brett are both from Maine; she from Orrington and he from Augusta. Getting married in Maine was an easy decision. “We love Maine, especially the beauty that is found in Bar Harbor,” Ashley says. She and her family have enjoyed countless years in Bar Harbor celebrating the Fourth of July.
The couple set about planning their “Coastal Elegance” wedding, which was held at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Bar Harbor Club.
They had amazing weather for their September wedding. Ashley’s bridal party got ready in the Boathouse Suite at the Harborside Hotel while the men readied at the Bar Harbor Club. They were married by Ashley’s Grandfather’s high school best friend—Father Rudolph Leveille. After the Catholic ceremony, the wedding party hopped aboard an Oli’s Trolley for a victory lap around the island. Upon their return to Bar Harbor the crew enjoyed a toast on the rooftop deck of the Boathouse Suite before joining the rest of the guests for the cocktail hour and reception.
The evening was filled with song and dance. “It was truly a magical and elegant evening!” Ashley says.
In Ashley’s Words
We asked the bride more about the big day. Here’s what Ashley said…
I wish…I could relive our amazing day over and over again.
One of my favorite moments was…having a toast with our wedding party on the deck of the Boathouse Suite overlooking the boats in the harbor.
I’m glad that…the weather cooperated for our special day.
I really liked…our oceanfront venue. Guests were able to enjoy a weekend on the coast of Maine.
My advice to other couples is
…to take time to stop and appreciate the day. Take time away from everyone and spend a few precious moments with your new spouse.
