Erica and Michael met for the first time in middle school, but it wasn’t until they were working adults that they were reunited at a business networking event.
Michael proposed to Erica on Thanksgiving morning, just moments before leaving for their family dinners. “It was private, thoughtful, and very sweet,” Erica says. “It took me most of the day to catch my breath!”
The couple both grew up in Maine—she in Lewiston and he in Harpswell. They live together in Auburn. A Maine wedding was an easy decision. They started planning their dream wedding, which incorporated lace, baby’s breath, and soft mint and pink colors. “We created the wedding day that we both envisioned,” Erica says.
Their ceremony was held at Bowdoin College Chapel. “It’s breathtaking!” Erica says. “From its interior broad central aisle to its exterior twin towers.” The couple and their wedding party chose to take photos all across the city of Brunswick, from the Androscoggin Swinging Bridge to Main Street to the grounds of Bowdoin College. “Our photographer captured the natural beauty of the day, the scenery, and our love and emotions.”
Erica and Michael’s wedding reception was held at the Brunswick Hotel and Tavern. One hundred guests joined them for an exceptional dinner, dancing, and, of course, dessert!
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about her big day. Here’s what Erica said…
I wish…we could relive this day over and over again.
I didn’t realize…how amazing it could feel to be married.
One of my favorite moments was…walking out of the chapel holding hands with my husband.
My advice to other couples is
…to step back and take a moment to see everyone there who is celebrating your love.
