A mutual friend set Kim and Trevor up soon after he moved to New Jersey. “It was love at first sight,” Kim says.
It was on a visit to Trevor’s home in Wells, Maine, that he decided to surprise Kim with a proposal. After a few hectic days visiting family and friends, Trevor told Kim he wanted to take her on a date night and show her some places that she hadn’t seen yet.
They walked the trails at the Franciscan Monastery in Kennebunk, which open to the water and a beautiful view of Kennebunkport. As Kim turned to take some photos, Trevor called out her name. “I turned around to find Trevor on one knee, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him,” she says. “I cried and blurted out, ‘Obviously!’”
Due to the fact that Kim and Trevor spend most of their time in New Jersey with her family and friends, they thought it would be nice to get married in Maine. “Maine has some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen,” Kim says. The couple planned a wedding around the theme Nautical Elegance” to be held at The Nonantum Resort. They chose the Kennebunkport resort because the spot where Trevor proposed could be seen as it was directly across the river.
The couple were married at All Saints Church in Ogunquit. It’s Trevor’s family’s summer church and his dad built the steeple. Trolleys took the wedding party from Ogunquit to Kennebunkport in style for the reception. “We danced the night away on the edge of the river with the people who mean the most to us in the world,” Kim says.
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about the big day. Here’s what Kim said…
I didn’t realize
…how emotional a wedding day could be! I had so many emotions and happy moments on my big day. Event he little side conversations meant the world to me. It didn’t matter how much I planned or where we had our special day, nothing can replace the feelings of love and amazement I felt.
One of my favorite moments was
…when the church doors opened. It was a magical moment seeing Trevor for the first time that day and having all of our family and friends in one place to celebrate our love.
I’m glad that
…we chose to have our wedding in Maine. It was truly a unique experience with views and scenery that was unforgettable.
I really liked
…having a tent wedding! Being outside on a beautiful July night allowed for ambiance that no banquet hall could ever replicate.
My advice to other couples is
…to take time during your wedding day to take it all in. It flies by, so it’s important that you two have a minute to celebrate your new vows and all the people that came to enjoy your wedding day with you.
