Amy and Ben officially met while they were attending Bates College, but they didn’t start dating until after graduation when they both were living in Boston.
The couple, who now live in Portland, Maine, had their autumn wedding at Grace Restaurant in their new hometown. “October in Maine is our favorite time of year,” Amy says. “We wanted to share that with our friends and family.”
The couple used magazines and websites to cull together their favorite design ideas to create their wedding with personal flair. “The most important aspect of the wedding for us was to throw a great party to celebrate all of our friends and family coming together,” Amy says. The couple made it easy for their guests—they held their ceremony in Grace’s basement floor event area, and retreated upstairs to the main dining room for food and dancing. “I wish we could go back and re-experience the whole day!”
In Her Words
We asked the bride more about the day. Here’s what Amy said…
I didn’t realize
…how quickly the day would fly by.
One of my favorite moments was
…walking down the aisle and seeing Ben at the end waiting for me.
I’m glad that
…my 90-year-old grandparents were able to make the trip from Buffalo, New York, to be with us on our wedding day.
I really liked
…messing up the steps to our first dance—but not caring at all!
