Marissa and Andrew met at a spring formal at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. “My best friend pushed me in his direction and we started dancing,” Marissa says. “The rest is history.”
Andrew proposed while the couple was vacationing at Long Lake in Van Buren, Maine. Andrew suggested having photos taken on the dock, so Marissa followed him to the end and had some cute photos taken while her family watched from the shore. “He then said, ‘I want to get one last picture,’ and at that point he got down on one knee,” Marissa says. “When he opened the ring box the ring fell out and onto the dock, just missing one of the openings. I quickly picked it up and put it back in the box.” Andrew asked Marissa to marry him with all of her family waiting in anticipation. “Of course I said yes!”
The couple, who live in Damariscotta, wanted to have their photos taken by the ocean. “Andrew is a lobsterman, so we really wanted the ocean, boats, and lobster traps in our pictures.” Portland’s Old Port proved to be the perfect backdrop.
