Caitlin was finishing her graduate degree at the University of Maine in Orono when she met Ryan. “My practicum supervisor, who has now become a close friend, kept telling me about this guy I had to meet,” Caitlin says. Her supervisor’s husband was telling Ryan about a girl he had to meet. They found out through mutual friends that they were both on Tinder. Needless to say, they both swiped right and the rest is history!
Ryan knew Caitlin was “the one” based on her quirky, fun, passionate, independent, spontaneous, caring, and active personality. As for Caitlin, she knew Ryan’s love for adventure and spontaneity, paired with his loving, caring, thoughtful, and motivated personality was exactly what she had been looking for.
The first getaway Ryan and Caitlin ever went on together was to Moosehead Lake. Ever since then, it has been a special place they frequently visit year round. In July, 2016, Caitlin’s dad rented a cabin for the whole family to spend time at on Moosehead Lake. During this family trip, Ryan coaxed Caitlin into going on a hike together on Big Moose Mountain—the first trail they had traversed as a couple. He had her stop at the scenic overlook, and popped the question. “I practically ran down the mountain after, and celebrated with my family,” Caitlin says.
Ryan and Caitlin live near Bangor, Maine. They decided to have their engagement shoot where they both feel most at home. “Some of our engagement photos were taken at Woodman’s Bar and Grill, where we had our first date,” Caitlin says.
