“After I knew I was in love with Matt (which didn’t take very long) there wasn’t a time when I thought he wasn’t the one,” Elisha says.
The couple, who live in Rockland, were planning to celebrate their fifth anniversary by going out to lunch. Matt told Elisha he had a surprise. He drove along the coast to Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde. There was a reason he was taking her to this spot.
“On our first date we watched “Forrest Gump,” my favorite movie,” she says. Matt found out that Marshall Point Lighthouse was featured in the movie, and decided it would be the perfect spot to propose.
“When we got to the lighthouse we walked around a little just to take in the view,” Elisha says. “After a few minutes Matt asked me if the lighthouse looked familiar and described the scene in the movie. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! As I was looking around he asked if this was a good anniversary surprise. When I turned back around to look at him, he was getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him.”
The couple decided to commemorate Marshall Point Lighthouse and have their engagement photo shoot there with Haley J Photography
