“From the moment I met her and first started spending time with her, I knew that she would play a very important role in my life,” Alex says. “As the years passed and our experiences grew, I became even more sure of these feelings and that I would soon be lucky enough to call my best friend, my wife.”
Alex decided to propose to Abby at her family’s cabin outside of Greenville, Maine. The cabin is remote; you have to drive 17 miles on logging roads just to reach the boat launch to get across the pond to the cabin. There’s no electricity or running water…but it’s the perfect place to read, play board games, and relax.
“Alex and I were both home for our summer vacation and had planned to have both of our families up to camp for a weekend getaway,” Abby says. “Alex woke me up at 4 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, to take me down to the dock for sunrise.” They sat there together, watching the sun come up over the mountains, and Alex proposed. “Having it be in a place that is so special to my family, and having all of the people we love most there to be a part of it, meant more to me than I ever thought an engagement could!”
