Elspeth and Greg met while staying at a hostel in New Zealand. They quickly became close friends. Just three months into their relationship they traveled together through India and Nepal. They then spent a year in Australia and a year teaching English in Taiwan before returning to the U.S.
“They say travel will make or break a couple,” Elspeth says. “Spending two months in India “made” us. Not only did we tolerate each other, we fell in love.” That was seven years ago.
Greg proposed at the top of a hike the couple took in Colorado. He even brought a celebratory picnic of champagne, cheese, and strawberries in his pack. “The ring was his late grandmother’s, and is absolutely perfect for me!” Elspeth says.
While the couple loves to travel, they decided to have their engagement photos taken close to home—on Elspeth’s parents’ property on Maranacook Lake near Readfield. “We both love the outdoors, so we were excited to do this shoot,” Elspeth says.
