"Day 3 of planning started in Portland at the location for our rehearsal dinner at the historic Custom House in Portland. We were greeted by Fausto from Blue Elephant Events, Christine from Real Maine Weddings, Molly and Victoria from Molly & Victoria Co., We were immediately overwhelmed with how stunning this building is, with beautiful checkered floors, sprawling marble counters, gold flaked ceilings, and gorgeous wood details throughout. In the center of the customs hall, there is a large walnut spherical clock that stands with a writing surface, outfitted with scrolls and quills (this gave me major Harry Potter vibes, which was an added bonus). I’m so excited to have our rehearsal dinner in this space. It feels like it is the perfect contrast to the wedding the next day at Bear Mountain Inn and Barn!
When we finished at Custom House, we all walked down the street to RiRa Irish Pub to see the space where our welcome party will be. Colby and I are huge fans of RiRa, so having our welcome party here really feels meant to be! We met with Desiree who took us up to the 2nd floor where we saw the upstairs bar, Parlor Area and Bay View Room. This is such a gorgeous, bright and airy space, with large windows overlooking the water and perfect décor to accentuate it all. After drooling over how beautiful everything was, we sat down to discuss what food we would have at the welcome party. It was clear Desiree is a pro at this, as she was giving her suggestions of fish and chips, lobster egg rolls (yes, please!) and an oyster bar. After all of this talk of the food we would have in October, naturally, we started getting hungry ourselves and thought it would be a great opportunity to have lunch. The entire group plopped down at one of the farmhouse tables and ate some tasty food (best veggie burger around)! It was a really fun moment and allowed us all to talk and get to know each other a bit more.
The next stop was picking jewelry at Day’s Jewelers in South Portland! Admittedly, Colby and I don’t know much about jewelry, so we were a little nervous going in to this. When we got to Day’s, we were greeted by Leo, who had such fun energy and instantly made us feel comfortable and like we were an extension of the Day’s family. We first looked at wedding bands for myself and it was clear Leo had a wealth of knowledge on the subject. He picked out wedding band options that would complement my engagement ring. He even taught us some things, like what a Pavé ring is (a technique where the diamonds are set close together, creating an illusion that the band is paved with diamonds). After Colby and I were done picking our top 3 choices for wedding bands (this was a hard decision!), we moved on to wedding jewelry. The team picked out some gorgeous Swarovski options and I tried them on, which was a moment I never anticipated that I would have. It was such a special, humbling moment. This opportunity is definitely one I will NEVER forget.
The last stop of the day was at Dube Travel to talk HONEYMOON! We were greeted by Sherry and got right down to business, discussing our upcoming trip to the Marigot Bay Resort on gorgeous island of St. Lucia. We talked about the unbelievably beautiful resort where we will be staying, Marigot Bay, and the surrounding area. We learned that there are TWO volcanoes on the island and that it is more mountainous than most Carribean islands. We went over possible excursion options (a volcanic mud bath might be calling our names), transportation, and food. We left the meeting feeling even more excited than when we walked in. We can’t wait to spend our first week as newlyweds on this incredible island!
Day 3 of planning was filled with a lot of special moments and what felt like endless laughter. We walked away feeling overwhelmingly blessed for being able to have this opportunity and to be able to spend it with a team that is so talented and fun to be around. We cannot wait for what’s next!"
